Peer-to-peer payments using Mobile Numbers

A lot goes behind designing your core product's first page or landing page. Here’s the approach we took while we sat on our figma boards.

The What and How of this Product

What is it?

A product that aims at moving money between people in the simplest way possible. Using their Mobile Numbers.

With the advent of UPI, the bank account of Indian consumers are now connected to their unique Mobile Numbers. This allows users to pay each other just by entering their Mobile Numbers. On Paytm, this product workflow is represented as ToMobile.

Payment to a mobile number is now synonymous to transferring money to someone’s bank account. The icon on the Home Page is an entry point to the Product that facilitates this.

Deep-diving into data

  • Success rate of repeat payments is the highest.
  • The success rate for first-time payments is the lowest.

That means.

  • Users are much more confident about paying someone with whom they already have a transaction history.
  • Users need some time to get convinced that they are paying the right recipient.

So we should do this.

  • Give a lot of prominence and importance to Repeat Payments
  • Share enough information for first-time payments to facilitate faster decision-making for the users. Info hierarchy should give them enough confidence to pay on the first attempt.

Capture

  • Success rate of repeat payments is the highest.

Rank
